If only we could
master miracles
“If only we could master miracles” is an exhibition exploring our unrelenting drive to comprehend, quantify, replicate, and control natural and cosmic phenomena. With wonder, mystery, and curiosity as a starting point, the journey moves through the realms of science, rationality, and capitalism.

The hand that
searched in the void
“The hand that searched in the void” is an exhibition and public programme around holding on and letting go. Amongst it are stories that try to get hold of the past and installations embodying personal processes of coping and grasping. We also witness artists relinquishing control, negotiating acts of holding on and letting go with the materials and technologies they work with.

The hero, the villian
and the truth
Strange and twisted figures of Martin Luther, Jesus and Mary, Queen Wilhelmina, Picasso, and other historical figures loom large in the former munitions storage of the historical fort. They are the styrofoam and polyurethane statues by artist Folkert de Jong, in the theatrical exhibition “The hero, the villain, and the truth – Cancellation or redemption?”. The exhibition asks questions such as: What is history? Who writes it? What if it were written differently? By playing with truth(s), Folkert de Jong touches upon themes such as morality, colonialism, capitalism, ecology, and feminism. Animated by theatrical staging, lighting, and audio narration written by selected authors, the statues open up alternative histories.
